If You Can't Access the Online Orientations

Remember, you cannot log in to WebCT or access your class until your class has started.
Just because you have completed the Online Orientation does not mean you can log in to WebCT or access your class in WebCT if your class has not yet started.

Before logging in to each class on WebCT, you are required to complete each course's Online Orientation.  To find your Online Orientation, click here for detailed instructions, or follow these: Go to http://distance.hccs.edu, and click on Access DE Courses/Orientations.  First, select the semester. On the next page, select your course department ( i.e. English, Math), or select All if you do not know it. Now find the Online Orientation link for your course by class or CRN number.  If you don't have this information, log in to Online Registration to obtain it.

Your Online Orientation consists of reading information contained in the page links on the top right as seen here:

There are 3 main reasons why you may be having problems accessing your Online Orientations.

1You are accessing more than one Online Orientation at a time and/or you have too many browser windows open. Please access only one Online Orientation at a time and close each pop-up window after reading/printing its contents before proceeding with the rest of the orientation to avoid confusion.

2. You're Online Orientation is not yet available.  If your Online Orientation is not yet available, please be patient. Check the Orientation date in your schedule or on the DE Courses Offered page. If on that date or after, it's still not available, do not panic. Simply check the following day and thereafter to see if the Orientation has been posted. You should complete the Online Orientation the weekend that it's due, but in the event that it is not available or that you were not able to get online, you may complete it past its due date if need be, but as close to possible to the start date of your course. While it is important to complete the Online Orientation before accessing your class, if it is not available by the first day of class, you will not be prevented from logging in to your course once your course begins.  Simply log in to your course.  This document shows you how to do this. From WebCT's Mail tool, you can notify your instructor about his/her Online Orientation.

. You have a pop-up blocker that is interfering with your Online Orientation's pop-up windows.
