Career Center – Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS)

Workforce courses may or may not be transferable. This will depend upon the program and articulation agreements between HCC and universities. Students whose first priority is to gain entry-level employment in a specific field may opt to earn the AAS degree.

The two Associate in Applied Science Degrees (AAS) offered through the Distance Education Program are Accounting and Real Estate Programs.

However, HCC offers many other workforce/technical programs and some of those courses are online through the Distance Education Program. To review Workforce Programs for specific fields, click here.

Reasons to Pursue the AAS Degree:

  • The majority of courses in degree are directly related to a specific field
  • Courses will prepare students with basic skills and knowledge in a specific field
  • Earn a two year degree technical/workforce degree
  • Gain entry level employment in specific field upon completing degree
  • Long-term goal is to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science Arts & Sciences Degree – BAAS
  • Have work experience in a specific field and wish to earn the degree

Students are strongly encouraged to discuss transferability options with a DE Counselor or the department chair for program before pursuing degree.
