  2. DE Testing; Videocassette Courses
Testing will be on campus at the designated locations and times unless your instructor has specifically given you different instructions in your class syllabus.

  3. DE Proctor; Internet Based Courses : Arranging for a Test Proctor for Students Living Out of Houston ONLY
If you live outside of the Houston area, refer to the proctor link for details at http://distance.hccs.edu/de-counseling/student_out_houston.htm

  4. DE Testing; Students with Disabilities
Any student with a documented disability (e.g. physical, learning, psychiatric, vision, hearing, etc) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the appropriate Disability Support Service (DSS) Counselor at the beginning of each semester. Faculty are authorized to provide only the accommodations requested by the Disability Support Services Office.
Refer to Students with Special Needs link for details at http://distance.hccs.edu/de-counseling/special_needs.htm

    Steps for appropriate DSS assistance:
    1. Students must submit an Approved Accommodation Letter at the beginning of each semester in which they are taking distance education classes.

    2.
Distance learners who have a documented disability and would like to request educational accommodations should contact a Distance Education Counselor in order to be referred to the appropriate Disability Support Service (DSS) Counselor for assistance.

    3.
After visiting with a DSS Counselor, DE students should forward their Approved Accommodation Letter to the Distance Education Counselors for attention.

Students are encouraged to fax the Approved Accommodation Letter to:
    ATTN: Distance Education Counselors
    713-718-5388 (fax)

    4. Once the DE Counselors receive an Approved Accommodation Letter from a DE student, a copy of the letter is sent to each of the student’s distance education instructors and a copy is given to each instructors “Instructional Support Specialist” (ISS).

    5. The student requesting the accommodation(s) must contact the "Instructional Support Specialist" (ISS) a week before each of the exams throughout the semester to confirm that the requested testing accommodations will be met. If you need assistance in determining your instructor's ISS, please contact your instructor or contact the DE Department at 713-718-5275 and select option 1.

    6. Ensuring that testing accommodations are met is a coordinated effort within the Distance Education Department, but before accommodation arrangements can be made the Approved Accommodation Letter must be received by the Distance Education Department.

  5. DE Testing; Locations and Times
Testing locations and times can be found at http://distance.hccs.edu/TestingSchedule.html REMEMBER: When reviewing testing times and locations, pay special attention to the beginning and ending time for admittance on each testing day. On Fridays, the ending time is 7:00pm and on Saturdays and Sundays the ending time is 1:00pm. Students will not be admitted into the testing area after these posted deadlines.
